KRISTEN JORDAN FOR MISSOULA CITY COUNCIL WARD 6

Missoula deserves leaders who will tell the truth, fight for fairness, and make sure city government works for all of us, not just the well-connected.

I’ve consistently prioritized accountability and community well-being in my work on City Council. I voted to keep sidewalk assessments low and will continue advocating for the City to take greater responsibility for maintaining its own infrastructure. I also opposed a hazardous rezone proposal in Ward 6 to protect neighborhood safety and livability.Transparency and fiscal responsibility remain central to my approach. I have not voted in favor of a city budget because I have not yet received the level of program detail and performance data necessary to ensure your tax dollars are being spent wisely. I’ll continue to push for more accountability and targeted spending on real affordable housing by the MRA using TIF dollars.

This year, I worked with colleagues to restore public comment to the beginning of Monday night Council meetings, making local government more accessible to residents. I also introduced and helped pass a unanimous resolution opposing AI-driven price fixing, a proactive measure to protect Missoula renters from potential price gouging. Finally, I partnered with Police Chief Colyer and Library Director Lee to make a decibel reader available through the Missoula Public Library, giving residents a practical tool to address neighborhood noise concerns and support compliance with local ordinances.

Current projects include implementing an officer-led diversion program designed to ease pressure on our criminal justice system, lower costs for taxpayers, and maintain both community safety and participant accountability. I’m also collaborating with the Mayor and city staff to introduce a priority-based budgeting system that uses clear performance metrics to evaluate program effectiveness. This approach ensures that public funds are directed toward programs that deliver measurable results, while reallocating resources from initiatives that are outdated or under-performing. With this information, I’ll be better equipped to make informed budget decisions each year, ensuring your tax dollars are spent responsibly and transparently.

I believe in transparency and accountability at City Hall, which is why I don’t play political games and I make myself available to anyone with questions. Your concerns are my priorities.

My focus is simple: spend our tax dollars wisely, make sure every neighborhood is safe and connected, and protect the affordability that allows Missoulians to stay in the homes and communities they love.
